About this book
A stranger named Theo arrives in the town of Golden, his origins unknown. He discovers a local coffeehouse displaying ninety-two pencil portraits of the town's residents, created by a local artist. Theo begins to purchase these portraits, returning them to their 'rightful owners' one by one. Through each exchange, a new story unfolds, friendships are formed, and lives are altered. The novel explores themes of creative generosity, the importance of wonder to a purposeful life, and the invisible threads of kindness that bind people to one another, suggesting that 'for anything to be truly good, there must be love in it'.
